Nancy Rebecca Tonetti, 86 of West Chester, PA died Tuesday October 8, 2019 at her home in The Hickman Friends Senior Community in West Chester.
She was the wife of the late William Cornelius Tonetti, Jr., who passed away at their home in Great Neck, New York on November 6, 2000.
Born April 19, 1933 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Nancy was the daughter of the late Abner Blythe Fortner and the late Vida Geneva (Hancock) Fortner. After graduating from Central High in Charlotte, North Carolina, Nancy moved to New York and began her modeling career as one of “Sophie’s Girls” at New York’s Saks Fifth Avenue. While in New York, she met her husband and they moved to Great Neck, where they had two children, Caroline Susan, and William Cornelius. As the children grew up, Nancy returned to work as a licensed real estate broker, and later joined her sister Sarah Angeline (Fortner) Spielfogel and her family working as an office manager at their family paper business in Long Island.
She is survived by her daughter, Caroline Susan Tonetti and son, William Cornelius Tonetti III (wife Suzanne Marie Boyle Tonetti), five grandchildren (Jonathan Tonetti Schatz, Emily Clara Schatz, Margaret Elizabeth Marie (Tonetti) Eisler, William David Tonetti, and Mary Katherine Tonetti) and 2 great grandchildren (Leila Marie Eisler and Declan Patrick Eisler). Nancy moved to West Chester to be closer to her children in her later years.
Nancy was the youngest and last surviving sibling in her family, preceded by her sisters Caroline Josephine and Sarah Angeline, and brother Abner Blythe Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 19380; 610-696-1181; www.DellaFH.com followed by her Memorial Service at 3:30 PM. The interment will be private.
