Mingzhen Wang

December 5, 1932 ~ February 20, 2019 (age 86)

Mingzhen Wang, 87, of Chadds Ford, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 20th, 2019.

She was born in Shanghai, China on December 5th, 1932.

Mingzhen was a dedicated mother, a caring daughter, a devoted wife and a loving grandmother.

She attended Shanghai Kunfan Elementary School and Shanghai Wuben Middle School. She then graduated high school in 1950, and joined the Chinese Army shortly thereafter. After the military, Mingzhen attended Beijing University and then transferred to Nankai University where she graduated with a degree in chemistry in 1957.

After graduation, she joined Nankai University as a faculty member in the Chemistry Department and remained there until her retirement in 1991. During her tenure at Nankai University, Mingzhen was recognized as an accomplished organic chemistry professor. As a key member of the research team in the physical organic chemistry division, she made significant contributions to several projects that won two national awards in both the Scientific Discovery and the Advancement of Science and Technology departments. 

After retiring from teaching, Mingzhen helped taking care of her mother until she passed away at the age of 102. She then moved to the United States where she helped raise her two grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Qian Wang; two grandchildren, Kevin Yao, and Ethan Yao; her brothers Mingde Wang, Mingwei Wang; and her sisters Mingzhu Wang, and Mingci Wang.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 9:00am - 10:00am at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home Inc. 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA, 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com; followed by her funeral service at 10:00am. 

Interment will be private.

The Wang family would like to thank the entire staff at Sterling Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center who supported our family during Mingzhen's last few years of life.
