Leon Williams Obituary

Leon “Willie” Williams, 82, of West Chester, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2019.

Born in Spartanburg SC, and formerly of Southwest Philly, Delaware County, and Chester County he was the son of the late Arthur Williams and Middie Scruggs (nee Gosnel).

He served in the US Navy for ten years, and traveled to many exotic ports of call.  He was stationed in Japan for several years, and made several crossings of the Equator, and served in support of the Cuban Missile blockade.  Upon retiring from the Navy he had many jobs, including Armour Meats, Inc., Warner Trucking Company, and the US Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia, where he worked for 25 years until retiring as Dept. Head of Production/Planning.  While at the Naval Shipyard he was also Chairperson for the United Way.

He was a devoted husband, father and grand-father, who loved spoiling his grand-children and grand-dog, Dakota. He enjoyed playing the lottery and the "scratchies". He loved to walk, was an avid reader and a dog lover, especially his beloved Trixie, Rajah and Tajah. 

Leon was proceeded in death by his wife of 55 years Dorothy Ann Williams (nee Drecher), He is survived by his daughter Linda A. (nee Logsdon) (Richard) Schroth and loving Grandfather to Krista and Stephen Schroth. 

Leon will be laid to rest on December 6, 2019, with full military honors, at a private service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, PA.
