Leo Joseph Sullivan

August 24, 1948 ~ October 20, 2018 (age 70)

Leo Joseph Sullivan, 70, of West Chester, Pennsylvania, passed away at his home on October 20, 2018, surrounded by family.

Born in Salem, Massachusetts, Leo was the son of Donald J. and Marguerite Reid Sullivan. He was raised in Danvers, Mass., where he met and married his high school sweetheart Susan Holden in 1966.

From a young age, Leo was a dedicated worker. Leo was a proud Eagle Scout who graduated from Bentley College of Accounting and Finance in 1970 and began his career with the General Electric Company in their financial management program. He became a highly skilled leader, using his expertise to specialize in the national defense industry. Over the course of his career he became known for his ability to turn around businesses, and took on CFO, CEO, and analyst positions within multiple companies. Leo ended his career of 40 years retiring as President from L-1 Identity Solutions in Billerica, Mass.

Leo, known to his family as “Pop,” will always be remembered for his kindness, love, and importantly – his Irish wit. He enjoyed spending time on the water, and could often be found sailing. His favorite times were those spent with his grandchildren. He was a caring husband, father, and grandfather, and the lessons he taught will never be forgotten.

Leo is predeceased by his mother and father, Marguerite and Donald Sullivan, his brother Paul Sullivan, and his granddaughter Catherine Violet Hubbard.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Susan Holden Sullivan, his brother Neil Sullivan, of New York, and his sister, Kathleen Sullivan of London, England. He also leaves behind his son Matthew, of North Carolina, his daughter Ann, of West Chester, PA, his son Daniel, of New York, and his daughter, Jennifer, of Connecticut. He is survived by his eight grandchildren, Matthew and Jordan Sullivan, Holden and Alexandra Barnes, Jack, Maeve, and Brynn Sullivan, and Frederick Hubbard, as well as his niece and nephew Dr. Laura Sullivan and Michael Sullivan, and brother-in-law Edward (Bud) Holden.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Wednesday October 24, 2018 from 9:30-10:30 am at the Saints Peter & Paul Church, 1325 E. Boot Rd. West Chester, PA followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30 am.  Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Leo to the Catherine Violet Hubbard Animal Sanctuary, P.O. Box 3571, Newtown, CT 06470.
