John T. “Jack” DeHaven, Sr. of West Chester.
John T. “Jack” DeHaven, Sr., 93 of West Chester, PA died Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester.
He was the husband of the late Elizabeth Whiteman DeHaven.
Born August 31, 1924 in Lionville, PA, he was the son of the late Issac M. DeHaven and the late Beaulah Agnes Miller DeHaven.
Jack lived in West Chester for most of his life. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and retired from the Operating Engineers Local 542. He joined the US Army during WWII. They moved to Millsboro DE and resided there for 23 years before moving back to West Chester.
Jack enjoyed fishing, crabbing, gardening, beekeeping, bowling and later in life wood working.
He is survived by his children, Robert DeHaven (Nancy) of West Chester, PA, Linda DeHaven (partner Robert Harshaw) of West Chester, PA, John DeHaven, Jr (Barbara) of West Chester, PA, George DeHaven (JoAnn) of Coatesville, PA, 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren
He was preceded in death by sisters, Bearline Moore and Betty Kilpatrick.
Relatives and Friends are invited to his visitation on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 10-11am at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 North Church Street, West Chester, 610-696-1181 www.DellaFH.com; followed by his Funeral Service at 11am.
Interment with military honors will be held in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA.
