It was John, who made sure we had a Driver Ed program at Westtown.
He worked with Art, an alumni and owner of Kirk Chevrolet, to have cars given for use until Kirk Chevrolet was sold in 1984. John then worked with insurance companies to use a personal car to continue the program... Just a little remembrance of 'all the above and beyond the scenes' John would always, with his open door policy would do and take no credit for.

So sorry to hear of your father's passing. He was such a staple at Westtown with his office just around the corner from the front office. I knew him before I attended W and he remained there for years and years after I left. It is a loss for the community. And clearly a loss for several communities given all the different hats he has worn. He was a wonderful man and will be missed. However, he did leave wonderful children and the Batley family continues to be a strong force at the school. Peace and light for all of you.

For this displaced kid in boading school, John Batley's firm friendly presence in the business office, was a root. I realized over the past few days, that the mental picture of him at his desk is one of my most consistent lasting memories of Westtown. I don't remember actually directly speaking to him.. but it's safe to say he lives on as the reality of a parent I trusted and truly needed at the time. God Speed and love to Batley's in all directions.🌟🙏🏻
