Jeffrey George Hunchar, VMD of West Chester.

Jeffrey George Hunchar, VMD, 72 of West Chester, PA died Wednesday January 31, 2018 at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

He was the husband of Nancy Connell Hunchar.

Born February 22, 1945 in Berwick, PA he was the son of the late George Hunchar and the late Anna Gelety Hunchar.

Jeff was a graduate of Berwick High School. He then graduated from Penn State University and went on to receive his master’s degree from the University of Maryland. After obtaining his masters, Jeff graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School. 

He started his veterinary career at the Dover Veterinary Hospital in New Hampshire. 

After several years he started his own practice, Northwood Veterinary Hospital in Northwood, New Hampshire.

Jeff decided to return to the University of Pennsylvania for a residency in Avian Pathology. His career then transitioned to working in the poultry industry. Jeff enjoyed Penn State Football, cooking, gardening, working around the house and will be remembered for his quick-witted sense of humor and great story telling ability.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children; Kathryn W. Lansinger and her husband R. Reed; John C. Hunchar and his fiancé Caitlin Baiduc; his sister, Jane Kellogg and her husband James.

Relatives and Friends are invited to his visitation on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 from 10-11am at the St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380; followed by his Funeral Mass at 11am. Interment will be held in Oaklands Cemetery, West Chester PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hematologic Malignancies Translational Center of Excellence at Abramson Cancer Center.
