Janet Marian Smith

Janet Marian Smith, 75, of West Chester, formerly of Chadds Ford, passed away peacefully at home on September 10 after a lengthy illness.

Born in 1943, she was raised in Chadds Ford, the daughter of the late Wilbur Horrocks and Marian (Lynch) Horrocks.  She was a 1961 graduate of Penncrest High School in Media, PA.

She was a homemaker until becoming employed at the Chadds Ford Sunoco for almost 38 years, most recently under the ownership of James Leader, until she retired in 2016.

Janet thoroughly enjoyed gardening, helping others, playing Bingo with her “Bingo Buddies” at Twin Pines Nursing Home, and spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her eight children, George Smith (Janet) of Wagontown; Jeffrey Smith of Lexington, NC; Kimberly Jones (Ken) of Exton; Heather Smith of West Chester; Catherine Stuber (Randy) of Reading; Julie Smith of Wilmington, DE; Valerie Smith of Claymont, DE; and Tracey Swartz (William) of West Chester, 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, James and Larry Horrocks.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at 11am with a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the time of her service at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home located at 410 N. Church Street in West Chester 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com

Interment will be private.
