Geraldine Russell Holden of 93, of West Chester, formerly of Danvers, Massachusetts, Sun City Center, Florida, a retired secretary, wife of the late Edward M. Holden, died at her home on May 25, 2018.
Born in Brewer, Maine, Geraldine was the daughter of Harry E. and Catherine (Barron) Russell. She was raised in Augusta, Maine, where she met and married her high school sweetheart in 1946 and was married for 45 years. She resided in Danvers for 49 years as a proud resident of Stafford Road.
In Danvers, Geraldine was a member of the General Israel Putman chapter of the D.A.R. for over 25 years. She attended the Maple Street Congregational Church, where she was a past President of The Young Woman’s Guild. She also was an instructor for Diet Workshop teaching classes in the North Shore area.
In Sun City Center, she was an associate deacon of the United Community Church, where she also was on the hospitality committee. She was an award member of the Sun Coasters Lawn Bowling Team with whom she traveled and participated in an international tournament.
Gerry or “Nana” as her family affectionately called her, will always be remembered for her kindness and loving smile.
Her mother and father Catherine and Harry Russell, her husband Edward M. Holden, her brother Frederick William Russell, her sister Frances M. Russell, and her great granddaughter Catherine Violet Hubbard predecease Geraldine.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Leo Sullivan of West Chester, Penn. Her son and his wife Edward M. (Bud) and Debra Holden of Danvers Mass., her five grandchildren Matthew J. Sullivan, of Pittsboro, NC, Ann K. (Sullivan) Barnes, of West Chester, Penn., Daniel J. Sullivan of Rochester, NY, Jennifer H. (Sullivan) Hubbard of Sandy Hook, Ct. and Kiely Holden of Danvers, Mass., as well as eight great grandchildren Matthew and Jordan Sullivan, Holden and Alexandra Barnes, Jack, Maeve and Brynn Sullivan and Frederick Hubbard.
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Friday June 1, 2018 from 9:30-10:30 am at the SS. Peter & Paul Church 1325 E. Boot Road West Chester, PA 19380 followed by her Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Interment will be private in MA.
