So very sorry to read of George's passing last week as he was truly a one of a kind guy. George touched many lives in numerous ways, always leaving a little part of himself with everyone he met. Growing up, the Painter family lived in my neighborhood so I knew the brothers but it was having him meet and marry my friend Alice that was really special giving them a beautiful life together. With loving thoughts to you Alice and your family.

I worked with George while he was with Region #2 PSP and I with Montgomery County Detectives. He was always honest, loyal and professional. A man with a great sense of humor and dedication to the job. As I read previous entries, I can't say anything more than what has been written. He was a friend for life. RIP Mutt, Luke

I am so saddened by your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. George showed me the way when I was a young trooper. His legacy continues on as all of us that he inspired and mentored are now passing on his legacy to the younger members of law enforcement. I will never forget what he did for me. Thank you and Rest In Peace Sarge.

Aside from being a great Marine and Trooper, George was a great human being. I remember him most for being dedicated to family, selfless, and willing to stand up for what was right regardless of the situation or consequences. Thanks George for showing so many of us how it’s done. RIP my friend you will surely be missed.

A man of unquestioned character, integrity and courage. He set a standard of excellence and leadership for dozens of young Troopers in his charge. "Rest easy Marine...until we meet again."

I am deeply saddened by George's passing. He was very good to me and I enjoyed his humor and his caring presence during the time I lived with his Mother, many years ago. Ed, I am especially thinking of you at this time. Peace and love to you and all your family. Sandy

I had the pleasure of working with George for the last 16 years of my career with the Pennsylvania State Police. He was one of the finest troopers I knew. He was always dedicated, honest and a true attribute to the PSP as I am sure he was to the US Marines.

My wife and I extend our sympathies to his wife and children and they should be very proud of George and the way he lived his life.

I had the pleasure of meeting George as he was finishing up with PSP and later was able to work alongside him while he was at CC. I am grateful for both of these opportunities. George was a Marine's Marine; focused on the mission while simultaneously cognizant of the welfare of his troops.
