Elizabeth D. Fillmore

Elizabeth Fillmore, 92 of Newtown Square, PA passed away on Sunday, December 9th at White Horse Village in Newtown Square, PA where she lived since 2001. 

Born December 30, 1925 in Scranton, PA she was the daughter of the late Dr. Arthur Davis and Marjorie Vandling Davis.

For 70 years she was the devoted wife of Robert Allen Fillmore.

Elizabeth “Betsy" met her husband in 7th grade at Country Day School in Scranton, PA.  She went on to secondary school at Dana Hall in Wellesley, MA and graduated from Bryn Mawr College with a degree in history.

As an active member of the League of Women Voters for many years, Betsy continued her interest in history with a lifelong commitment to civic engagement, particularly voter rights. She was an early supporter and worked diligently on the campaign to pass the Equal Rights Amendment in the early 1970’s.  She had an enduring interest in politics at all levels.

Betsy was a selfless volunteer and cared for all people. She was a faithful member of her church.  She enjoyed tinkering around in her garden and was an avid reader.

A loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who is survived by her children:  Kathleen (Dennis) Mirra, Judith (Thomas) Buchanan, and Robert Fillmore Jr.  In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren Nicole (Joseph) Platt, Kimberly Mirra (Brian Arthurs), Thomas (Annie) Buchanan, William (Brianna) Buchanan, Robert (Kaitlin) Buchanan and her great-grandchildren Sarah, Jacob, Ava, Ben, and Elizabeth.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, December 28th at 11:00 AM at White Horse Village, 535 Gradyville Road, Newtown Square, PA 19073.

Interment is private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Elizabeth Fillmore's memory be made to the White Horse Village, Employee Appreciation Fund, c/o White Horse Village, 535 Gradyville Road, Newtown Square, PA 19073.
