West Chester, PA — Edna Wylie, 12 year resident of Wellington at Hershey’s Mill, died on Tuesday, December 31 in her home. Edna was 92 years old.
Born July 6, 1927 in Surprise, N.Y., Edna May Long and her sister, Mary, grew up on a dairy farm in the Catskill region of New York. She received her bachelor’s degree from Albany State Teachers College and a masters in education from Union College while teaching elementary school in Scotia, NY.
Edna married James H Wylie Jr in 1952 and bought their first home in Schenectady, NY, where their only child was born in 1958 - James Jay. The family of 3 moved to Rockville, MD in 1966 where they lived until her husband, Jim, died in 2006 and Edna moved to West Chester, PA.
Her passions were volunteering for the United Methodist Church in Rockville, square dancing, playing bridge, crossword puzzles, and her grandchildren.
Edna is survived by her son, Jim, his wife Eva, and their 2 children, Tim and Emily. And 2 nieces (Sandi Shusda, Nancy Flansburg). And 2 nephews (Donald Wagoner, David Wagoner).
A celebration honoring Edna’s life is being planned for the spring of 2020.
