Charles Robert Wolf, M.D. of West Chester, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2018.

He was born on May 8, 1933 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania, the son of Reverend Dr. Charles R. Wolf and Beulah Wolf.

Charles attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with a B.S. in Chemistry in 1955. He then attended the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Medicine, graduating in 1959. After graduating from medical school, he served as a Lieutenant in the Medical Corps of the United States Navy from 1960 and 1962. His medical training included an internship at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh and residencies at McKeesport Hospital and the Orthopedic Surgery School of Medicine. After completing his internships in 1966, he joined the faculty of the University of Kentucky’s School of Medicine, where he served until 1971.

In 1971, he began his orthopedic practice in West Chester, Pennsylvania and joined the medical staff at Chester County Hospital. At the hospital, he served as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery, Chairman of the Department of Surgery, Chief of Staff, and Chairman of the Executive Committee of Medical Staff. In 2002, after 31 years, he retired. Following his retirement, Charles volunteered for ten years at the Community Volunteers in Medicine in West Chester.

Charles is survived by his wife, Karen; his three sons, Karl (fiancée Tina) Wolf, Alan (wife Ellie) Wolf and Daniel (wife Janice) Wolf; his four stepdaughters, Karen (husband Joel) Slossburg, Joan Ockey, Kristine (husband Steve) Gregg, and Laura (husband Greg) Kornacki; and his sister Joan (husband Bernie) Hulse. Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren: Katya Wolf, Caitlin Wolf, Leah Slossburg, Aaron Wolf, Eva Gregg, Emily Kornacki, Ella Slossburg, Karen Kornacki, John Gregg, Jackson Wolf, and Henry Wolf.

A private memorial service will be held at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith, and Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. in West Chester. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the Community Volunteers in Medicine (www.cvim.org - 300 Lawrence Drive, Suite B, West Chester, PA 19380) in Dr. Wolf’s name.
