Charles Huber Obituary

Charles E. Huber, known to family and friends as “Charlie", age 80, passed away peacefully following a brief illness on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, in a caring and loving community at Sunrise Newtown Square, PA.

Charlie was born to Eugene and Edith (Moore) Huber, on June 10, 1938, in West Chester, PA, where he was a lifelong resident.  The first of five boys, Charlie had plenty of company growing up.  After attending barber school in Philadelphia, Charlie opened up shop next to his father’s grocery store (Huber’s Market).  After several years of barbering, Charlie assumed a custodial position at West Chester State University where he worked for 32 years until his retirement.  Throughout most of his adulthood, alongside his father, Charlie served as a Sunday morning usher at St. Agnes Parish in West Chester.  Charlie was consumed by his hobbies – building model and remote control cars, boats and planes (no directions needed!) and listening to classical music.  As a lifetime member of Good Will Fire Company No.2, West Chester, Charlie enjoyed bantering with personnel at local fire stations. Charlie loved teasing young and old alike, and chatting with the staff and patrons at the many local eating establishments he frequented.

Charlie will be lovingly remembered and is survived by his brothers Joseph (Fredericka) Huber (Stoughton, MA) and Richard (Mary) Huber (Springfield, PA), niece Heidi Elizabeth (Erskine) White and great-niece Marina White (Bear, DE), and sister-in-law Doris Huber (AZ).  Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jack Huber (AZ), brother Ronald Huber and Ron’s wife Karen (Cummings) Huber (West Chester).

Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018, at 11:30 AM at St. Agnes Church in West Chester. Burial will follow at the St. Agnes Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the church on Friday, October 5, at 10:30 AM until the time of the service.

Interment will be held in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.

The Huber family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff at Sunrise Newtown Square, for their attentiveness and loving care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Charlie’s name to St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay Street, West Chester, PA 19380.
