Anthony P. Giunta Jr of West Chester
Anthony passed on his 71st birthday, February 24, 2018 of a sudden onset of illness. The complications of Myelodysplastic Syndrome MDS had been his battle for 12 years weakening his immune system, but never his spirit.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl in marriage of 49 years, sons Anthony lll, and fiancé Shannon, John wife Sarah, Damon and fiancé Kelly, his grandchildren Mackenzie, Kamryn, Ruby, Rian, Sebastian and Calogero. He anxiously awaited the birth of his 7th grand daughter due in April.
Anthony was the son of the late Theresa Filoromo and Anthony Giunta, siblings the late Tom Giunta and Larry Giunta, surviving sibling’s Grace Kelly, Angela Swisher and Peter Giunta.
Anthony was a graduate of West Chester High School class of 1965, attended the Pennsylvania Academy of Barbering before opening his own salon HeadMasters. Throughout his career in barbering, he won competitions as a master barber stylist.
Anthony served in the United States Air Force and was honorable discharge in 1969 from March Air Force in Riverside, California, where he had met and married his wife Cheryl.
His true passion was the sport of breeding and racing homing pigeons and was a lifelong member of the Suburban Homing Pigeon Federation, it was the joy he learned from his father as a child, a sporting hobby they shared together. The bond he shared with his dad carried onto his sons, every sport the boys played became their fathers pride...throw a ball, ride a bike, fish in a stream, tell a story, it was his to share with his sons. We lovingly refer to him as “the dad” it was a name no other man deserved more than him. When you think of him, let it be in song. He danced on American Bandstand as a teenager, every oldie and Motown tune more than just a sound, it was the rhythm with emotion, the steps he practiced waving his hands in a bow. Smile when you smell the scent of a tree, delight in the joy of a bird in flight, his gift of simplicity made him loved by all who knew him.
