Allen Edward Eagles 1933-2017

Allen Edward Eagles, a longtime resident of Exton, passed away on September 26, 2017 following a serious illness. 

Born on December 13, 1933, Mr. Eagles grew up in Hillside, New Jersey.  Mr. Eagles graduated from Hillside High School in 1952.  An excellent trombone player, Mr. Eagles made the all state high school band during his junior and senior years. 

In 1957, Mr. Eagles graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S. in Engineering.  While at Rutgers, he met Joan Palumbo, his future wife.  The Eagles were married for 50 years until Mrs. Eagles' death in 2007.   Following his graduation from Rutgers, Mr. Eagles served in the Air Force.  During his service, Mr. Eagles was awarded a Good Conduct Medal and the American Spirit Honor Medal.  

Beginning in 1960, Mr. Eagles worked for General Electric (and its successors Martin Marietta and Lockheed Martin) as an aerospace engineer for more than thirty years.   During his career, Mr. Eagles was responsible for the development and management of space and satellite technologies and systems.  His work resulted in several patents. 

Following his retirement from Lockheed Martin, Mr. Eagles worked several more years for the Chester County Intermediate Unit in various technical positions. 

Mr. Eagles earned a Masters in Engineering Science from Penn State, an M.S. in Chemistry from St. Joseph's University, and an M.B.A. from Weidner University.

Mr. Eagles' hobbies included listening to classical and big band music. In his later years, he loved spending time with his granddaughters.

Mr. Eagles is survived by two sons, Allen, Jr., of Morgantown, Michael, and his wife Elizabeth of Wyndmoor, as well as by two granddaughters, Charlotte and Claire, both of Wyndmoor.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation Friday, September 29 2017 from 12:30-1:30 pm followed by his Funeral Mass, 1:30 pm at the Sts. Philip and James Church, 107 North Ship Road (Rt. 30 and Ship Road), Exton, PA 19341.

Interment will be private.

The family asks that any contributions be made to the Lionville Youth Association, P.O. Box 475, Lionville, PA 19353.
