Wanda E. Cochran

Wanda E. Warman Cochran, 86 of West Chester, PA passed away on June 20, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.

Wanda was born on April 7, 1930 in Easton, PA to Kenneth Edward Warman Sr. and Ruth Kiefer Helm.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Norman Alfred Cochran Sr., with whom she married in 1951 and shared 52 years of marriage. 

Wanda graduated from Easton High School in 1947. She received a BS in Elementary Education in 1951 from West Chester State College, where she met her future husband, Norman Alfred Cochran Sr. In 1971, Wanda received her MS from West Chester University. She taught in Baltimore Public Schools from 1951-1954 and afterward she received a Fulbright scholarship for 1954-1955, while in England, she worked as a graduate tutor at Oxford University. From 1966 to 1987 she worked at Chadds Ford Elementary School. 

She enjoyed traveling, tennis, bridge, reading, playing the marimba and cocktails. Wanda was at her best entertaining her friends and family. In addition, she enjoyed volunteering at the Chester County Hospital.  

Wanda is survived by her brother, Kenneth Edward Warman Jr., wife, Sally Fox Warman and their three children; Linda, Shelly and Ken III along with many nieces and nephews. Wanda is also survived by her two children; Jody Ann Cochran Nordeen, Norman Jr. and wife, Roni, as well as their three kids; Al, Kyla and Chad.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 2:00-4:00pm at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, 410 N. Church St. West Chester, PA 19380, 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com; followed by her funeral service at 4:00pm.

Her Graveside Service will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016 at 11:00am at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, 2745 Morgan Hill Rd., Easton, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Wanda’s name to:  Neighborhood Hospice Inpatient Unit, 400 East Marshall Street, West Chester, PA 19380.
