Sr. Immaculata Mary and Immaculata High School are synonymous. You could see her coming down the hall with full determination. She was always a woman on a mission. My life has been forever blessed to have known her.

How can I possibly express the Importance of Sr. Immaculata Mary in my life? I think in many ways, our high school years form the foundation on which we build our future. I have always considered myself blessed beyond measure to have studied with this unique woman and educator for three years at Immaculata HS in Somerville, NJ. She fostered the life-long love of reading, writing, and etymology which served me so well for all my later education. But even more than that, she instilled and nurtured the drive to give ONLY my very best in every single area of my life. Hardly a day goes by that I don't think of her at some point (often when reading or hearing the many grammatical errors that plagued her!) and hope she would be proud of me. I will treasure so many memories of her forever. And I offer my heartfelt condolences to her family and all who knew her. (And I hope that as she looks down on this, she is NOT reaching for the red pen--or at least, not too often.)

Sister Immaculata,
Your memory, your legacy, your tough love and care for us punk teenagers was so special and above our high school awareness. At the time, we did not know how important you and all the Sisters of Immaculata would be to our future lives. Your concern, your truth, you love, and your bringing us together in life, with each other, and learning how to better communicate then and throughout our entire lives, is much appreciated. I often experience your touch in the words I say, and hear, and read, and write, because when I struggle to understand the meaning of new ones, often times, that understanding comes to me as an indirect connection to the excellent Latin that you taught me/us. After Immaculata High School, during my Villanova University days, I learned that you gave us all the beginnings of Unitas, Caritas and Veritas. Rest in peace, and Thank You!

Sister Immaculata Mary taught me English in Junior Year at Immaculata High School. She was an amazing teacher who demanded the best from us, and was a tremendous influence on me, as she must have been on generations of students. I can still remember the speeches from "Macbeth" that she had us memorize! I am so very glad to have had a chance to see her at the 50th anniversary celebrations for the founding of ICS and IHS in Somerville. May she rest in peace, and her family be comforted by the knowledge that she meant a great deal to her students, and will be long remembered.

One of the best two teachers I ever had, Someone you did not mess with. An enigma to most of her students back in the 60's and early 70's. I loved her ferocious, biting, sarcastic sense of humor. She was also as smart as a whip. I have often though of (Sister) Immaculata Mary and will continue to do so. My prayers are with her and her family.
