Shirley E. Rogers

Shirley Ellen (Hamilton) Rogers 94, of West Chester, PA died March 23, 2017 following a long and full life.

She was the wife of the late Charles W. Rogers.

Born on March 7, 1923 in Philadelphia, PA she was the daughter of the late Robert Hamilton and the late Mae Ritz Hamilton.  

She was a life-long member of the Gradyville Methodist Church and a longtime Volunteer.

Shirley may have only been 5 ft. tall, but she carried the weight of unlimited caring for family and others with grace as if it was the weight of a feather.  She was loved by all who knew her – even when she reached a “wrong number”.  She selflessly cared for her severely disabled son, Glenn, for more than 50 years.

She is survived by her daughters, Diane Rogers Johnson (Doug Johnson) of Rockton, IL, and Cindy L. Rogers Barimani of West Chester; Grandchildren Melissa DelConte (Michael), Cheryl Johnson, Amanda Ellen Verbovszky (Andrew) and Adam Barimani; Great-Grandchildren Rachel and Kahlan DelConte and Penelope Verbovszky, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Since Shirley's death, her son Glenn W. Rogers passed away on April 3, 2017. 

Relatives and Friends are invited to her visitation on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 19380, 610-696-1181, www. Dellafh.com; followed by a joint Memorial Service at 8:00 pm.
