Norman M. Heisman

Norman M. Heisman (“Stormin Norman”), 87, of Chadds Ford, PA, passed peacefully at home on Tuesday, August. 2, 2016.

He was the husband of the late Nancy Ann Devor Heisman and was blessed with a sixty-year marriage.

Born August 22, 1928 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Emmanuel Heisman and Jean Barr Heisman.

Norm was a graduate of Central High, Temple University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School.

Norm’s stellar legal career started with the U.S. Attorney’s office in Washington DC in the antitrust division. From there Norman began his distinguished thirty year career at Scott Paper Company where he was General Counsel and Executive Vice-President for well over a decade. Norm also served as counsel to Scott’s Board of Directors.

Norm proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he was an artillery spotter and was honorably discharged. 

Norman is survived by his daughter, Beryl Heisman, and his sons, Jon Heisman and James Heisman. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren: Max Toth, John Toth, Ethan Heisman, Chase Heisman, Connor Heisman, Madison Heisman and Katie Heisman.

Norm was an avid sports fan and attended the majority of his children’s lacrosse and hockey games where he made fast friends with the refs and typically suggested that if they wore glasses they might have gotten the call correct. He was also a regular at his grandchildren’s sporting events and a lifelong Eagles and Flyers fan.

Norm and Nancy enjoyed life in Florida, Arizona, Hawaii, St. Croix, Europe, New Zealand and Australia.

Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation, Sunday, Aug. 7, 2016 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, 410 N. Church St., West Chester, PA; 610-696-1181; www.DellaFH.com; followed by his Funeral Service at 12:00 noon.

Interment will be private.

Those who wish to celebrate Norm’s life, may join the family at his son James’ home at 2:00 pm.
