Nancy Ann Heisman of Chadds Ford

Nancy Ann Heisman, 83, of Chadds Ford, PA, passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 28, surrounded by her family.  Nancy was the beloved wife of Norman M. Heisman for 60 years, who survives her. She will be sorely missed by her children Beryl, Jon and James Heisman, as well as her sister and best friend Carolyn M. Smith. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren:  John and Max Toth; Madi, Katie, Ethan, Chase and Connor Heisman and her niece and nephew Lisa Daugherty and Bill Monacelli.

Nancy was born in Waynesboro, PA, to Jessie and Harold Devor. She graduated from Mount Sinai Nursing School in Philadelphia, and had a distinguished career as a registered nurse. In pursuit of her lifelong love of learning, she returned to school at Immaculata University, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English.  Nancy also worked at East High School in the Social Studies Department.

She was an avid sports fan who enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s games. She loved lacrosse and the Flyers. She was a lifelong reader, fabulous cook, and loved the beach and the sun. Nancy and Norman enjoyed life in Florida, Arizona, Hawaii, St. Croix, Europe, New Zealand and Australia. She was the heart and soul of her family and leaves an emptiness that will never be filled. Nancy touched the lives of everyone she met.

Relatives & friends are invited to her visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Fri., July 31, 2015 at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc. 410 North Church Street, West Chester, PA 19380; 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com.

Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 130 West Miner Street, West Chester, PA 19380 on Saturday, August 1st at 11:00 a.m.

Private interment will follow the service.

Those who wish to celebrate Nancy’s life may join the family at her home in Chadds Ford at 2:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the following organizations: Shannahan Boy’s Lacrosse Booster Club, Henderson Girl’s Lacrosse Booster Club, Henderson Boy’s Lacrosse Booster Club, the Flyer’s salary cap, or Penn State’s Thon Fund benefiting pediatric cancer.
