Maureen S. McCool

Maureen S. McCool, 94 of West Chester, PA, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Sunrise Assisted Living of Westtown.

She was the wife of the late Russell B. McCool.

Born February 2, 1923 in West Chester, PA, she was the daughter of the late George C. Sharpless and the late Elsie Brown Sharpless.

In 1940, Maureen graduated from West Chester High School. She continued her education at Jefferson Medical College Hospital School of Nursing, and graduated in 1944. 

Maureen was a whip-smart, self-possessed woman who enjoyed traveling, especially steam boating.  She was intellectually curious and was a voracious reader. Maureen was very proud of the ten years she volunteered in the recovery room at Chester County Hospital. 

Maureen is survived by her son Bob McCool and his wife Susan McCool of Abilene, TX, her son Thomas McCool and his wife Maria McCool of Pittsburgh, PA and her daughter Jane McCool and her husband Pete Palmer of West Chester, PA. She is survived by four grandchildren and one great, granddaughter.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Visitation on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc., 410 North Church Street,  West Chester, PA 19380, 610-696-1181, www.DellaFH.com; followed by her Memorial Service at 7:30 pm.

Interment will be private.
