Marguerite A. “Marge” Gotshall

Marguerite A. “Marge” Gotshall, 82, died on Sunday, July 23, 2017 at home.

She was the beloved wife of Elwood R. “Woody” Gotshall, Jr. for 43 years. 

Born in Philadelphia, PA on June 19, 1935 she was the daughter of the late George Thim and the late Ella Tomol Thim. 

Marge was a graduate of Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School, Gwynedd Valley, PA.  She graduated with a degree in English from Our Lady of Angels College, Aston, PA (now Neumann University).  She then studied Social Work at West Chester University, West Chester, PA and graduate studies in Education at Immaculata University, Immaculata, PA. 

She taught in the Philadelphia Archdiocesan Catholic School system for over 30 years in Bucks, Montgomery, Delaware and Chester Counties; retiring from SS. Philip and James School, Exton, PA. Marge was previously employed by Chester County Board of Assistance, where she specialized in helping children receive medical assistance.

In the 1980’s Marge was one of the first hospice volunteers for Neighborhood Visiting Nurses, West Chester, PA and was a long-time volunteer for Chester County Hospital, West Chester, PA.

In retirement Marge enjoyed cruising, reading, crossword puzzles and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her brother Paul Thim of Exton, PA, her beloved poodle Charley Brown. Marge was also a beloved aunt, cousin, Nana and friend. 

She was preceded in death by her two beloved poodles Rufus J. and Kolbe R.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation, Saturday, July 29, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon at Saint Maximilian Kolbe Church, 15 E. Pleasant Grove Rd., West Chester PA; followed by her Funeral Mass at 12:00 noon.

Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester, PA.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Brandywine Valley SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19380 and/or Assisi House 600 Red Hill Road, Aston, PA 19014.
