John "Jack" J. Devenney, Jr.

John “Jack” Joseph Devenney, Jr. of West Chester.

John "Jack" Joseph Devenney, Jr., 69 of West Chester, PA, passed away Wednesday June 7, 2017 at Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr.

He was the husband of Mary P. Dolan Devenney.

Born February 25, 1948 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John Joseph Devenney, Sr. and the late Virginia Toner Devenney.

Jack graduated in 1965 from Monsignor Bonner High School in Drexel Hill, PA, and went on to get his Bachelor's Degree in History from Villanova University in 1969.     

Jack worked in the banking industry for all his life, and in many capacities. Most recently, he worked for Meridian Bank as a Commercial Lender.

Jack had a passion for history and reading.  He especially enjoyed Gettysburg and the Civil War era. He loved being at the beach and going to the Outer Banks. Any kind of travel, always included the history of the area.

He was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan.   

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Mary Beth Devenney, John "Jack" J. Devenney, III, and Matthew P. Devenney; siblings Charles "Chuck" T. Devenney, Kathleen M. Wright, and Virginia A. Devenney; also, he is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.

Relatives and Friends are invited to his visitation on Monday, June 12, 2017 from 5:00- 9:00 pm at St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, 15 East Pleasant Grove Rd West Chester, PA 19382, and on Tuesday, June 13th from 8:30-10:00am at the church; followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.

Interment will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to. St. Maximilian Kolbe Church "Music Ministry" at the above address.
