Joan was a devoted wife, loving mother and caring grandmother.  She cherished her Roman Catholic faith and spiritual life.   She was an active member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in West Chester, PA.  She was an ardent pro-life activist and member of the board of directors of the Chester County Pro-Life Coalition. She was a graduate of West Catholic Girls HS in Philadelphia (1960).  She worked as a long distance operator for the Long Lines Division of AT&T until she retired in 1966 to devote full time to being a mother and homemaker.

She loved being a wife, a mother and grandmother and a member of a large expanding family.  She relished all the regular family celebrations, reunions, etc. She loved to dance and sing (was a member of her church choir).  She enjoyed playing slot machines at the casinos.  She loved to travel, visiting such locations as Medjugorje, Yugoslavia; Guadalupe, Mexico; Ireland; Italy; Greece and the maritime provinces of Canada.  Joan was an avid reader, enjoyed doing daily puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and watching her favorite TV programs.  She was a Phillies, Eagles and Villanova basketball fan.  She loved to go to the shore and bathe in the ocean especially every summer in Ocean City, NJ with all the family in tow.  Recent winter trips to Florida were also savored, including side trips to Savannah, GA, Charleston, SC and St. Augustine, FL to visit friends and family along the way.  Prior to her disabilities from her disease, Joan enjoyed dancing, bowling and golf.  She enjoyed playing Mexican train dominoes and card games.

Because of her husband’s occupation, the family relocated several times to Houston, TX, Wilmington, DE, West Chester, PA, Pontiac, Michigan and Naperville, IL.

The family is profoundly thankful for the tremendous care and comfort given by members of the ALS & MDA staff at the Temple University clinic, Visiting Angels Home Health Aides, Bayada Home Health Care Specialists, the medical staffs at Chester County Hospital and especially her final days at Bryn Mawr Hospital and Hospice care.

She will be deeply missed by her loving family and relatives, her many church associates, her pro-life associates and many, many friends and neighbors.
