JoAnn “JoJo” McDermott of Concord, MA, formerly of Rochester, NY, and West Chester, PA passed July 22nd while surrounded by her loving family in Strathmere, NJ following a courageous battle with brain cancer.

She was sixty-five years young.  JoJo was the beloved mother of Dawn (D’Alessio) McCullough and her husband Alexander of Concord, MA, LucyAnn (D’Alessio) McCarthy and her husband Michael of West Chester, PA and John D’Alessio Jr. and his wife Shannon of San Francisco, CA. JoJo was the loving grandmother of the late Alexander McCullough Jr. as well as the doting grandmother of Lily, Samuel and Molly McCullough, Michael, Elle and Carly McCarthy and John III and Arthur D’Alessio.

JoJo leaves behind her beloved dog Hadley as well as seven siblings and their spouses: Mary Ellen and Paul, Jim and Kathy, Jack and Karen, Michael and June, Fran and Meg, Tom and Carol and Kate, as well as twenty-one nieces and nephews, extended family and dear, dear friends. She is also survived by her former husband John F. D’Alessio, Sr.

JoJo never gave up her love of learning; after raising her children, she returned to school to pursue a master’s degree in social work. She went on to establish a very successful private practice as a Psychotherapist at the Brighton Therapy Group in Rochester where many will miss her. JoJo continued to pursue skills in her career as a therapist and an artist, even as she battled her disease.  JoJo loved cooking, sailing, art and the occasional skydive; her perfect day was spent at the beach from sun-up to sunset surrounded by her family and friends.
