James J. Koegel, 70 of West Chester, PA passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018. He was the husband of Marie Herninko Koegel.
Born March 12, 1947 in Norristown, PA he was the son of the late Joseph Koegel, Jane Kennedy Koegel and brother, Robert.
He graduated in 1969 from Villanova University with a degree in Economics and Temple University School of Law in 1975, and served in the US Army National Guard.
Jim began his legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Chester County. In 1977, he started his career at Jones Motor Group as General Counsel and was promoted to Vice President in 1980. He was President of Jones Motor Group, Inc. and Affiliated Companies since May 1996 and became Chairman of Jones Motor Division at Transport Holdings, LLC. in 2016. He retired from Jones in 2017, but continued his partnership in the East Vincent Development Company.
He served as a Director at DNB Financial Corporation since 2003, was a Board Member of the Chester County Industrial Development Authority since 2006, and has served as a Board Member of the Chester County Economic Development Council. He was also named a Trustee Emeritus at The Episcopal Academy, and served as an active trustee beginning in 1991.
Jim enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren at his beach home in Avalon, NJ.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Jonathan and Bryan and his daughter in law, Kate, future daughter in law, Jenna Watson and his grandchildren, Emily and Miles.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Saturday, January 13, 2018 from 9:30 am – 11:00 am at The Episcopal Academy Chapel, 1785 Bishop White Drive, Newtown Square, PA 19073; followed by his Memorial Service at 11:00 am.
