Jacqueline (Jackie) Louise Moore, 80, of West Chester, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2015 surrounded by her family after gracefully battling Lewy Body Dementia (Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s). Jackie is survived by her devoted husband Derwin Eugene (Gene) Moore of 60 years; her three children, Cheryl Fortunato (John) of West Chester, Tracy Moore (Martin Gulaian) of Atlanta, Greg Moore (Liz) of Manhattan; and four grandchildren, Kelsey and Kevin Fortunato, and Brendan and Colleen Moore.

She was the consummate loving, self-less wife and mother, always putting her family first. Jackie will be remembered for her quick wit, kindness, can-do attitude, love of life, and all things chocolate. She was a cherished friend, Gaga to her grandchildren and a strong, independent woman with a deep Christian faith.

Jackie was born in Wheeling, WV and began her love affair with Gene as high school sweethearts while attending Central High in Akron, OH. They married June 19, 1954 at First Methodist Church in Akron, resided in Oakland, NJ for 35 years, and relocated to West Chester, PA in 1999 to be near her grandchildren. 

Jackie had an unwavering work ethic and commitment to education. She helped put Gene through college, achieved a Master’s in Reading at William Paterson University attending nights and weekends for 11 years while working and raising her children.  Jackie had a rewarding teaching career as Director of the Basic Skills Program at Northern Highlands Regional HS in Allendale, NJ for 23 years.

Her hobbies included tennis, golf, bridge, entertaining and reading. Jackie was a fantastic cook and seamstress, sewing many of her children’s clothes.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service 11:00 a.m. Monday May 18, 2015 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 10 W. Pleasant Grove Rd., West Chester, PA, where visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. 

Interment will be private
