Gail Gresham Lam Obituary

Gail Gresham Lam born April 20,1936 and died March 9, 2018 at 81 of complications developing from health challenges beginning twenty years ago.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, R. Samuel Lam. Together the couple raised a loving family who also survives her; a local daughter, Heidi Benson (Carl) and son,

Ralph G.(Rue') of Delaware. Gail dearly loved her 4 grandchildren and 3 great granddaughters Abigail Benson Grofic (Will) and their 2 daughters, and Brittana Benson Marsden (Ben) and their daughter, Samuel Benson, and Trevor Lam.

Gail was the daughter of Natalie Strode Gresham Cloud and Willard Chapel Gresham.  Gail has 2 surviving sisters, Sharon Cassidy, Natalie Wenzel (Steven) and a brother, Gene Gresham(Joan). Gail was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Gresham(Nancy).

Gail was a lifelong Chester County resident, graduating from Avon Grove High School and earning a BFA from West Chester University. She was an artist who brought beauty and thoughtful intention to everything she did. She used her multiple skills at a variety of jobs including, being an accomplished Floral Designer at the Winterthur Museum, a Reading Specialist at Avon Grove Middle School, and self-employed as a Pottery and Piano teacher.  She enjoyed fashion design and sewed for herself and grandchildren.  She loved being PT care-giver of her grandchildren, who will forever be inspired by the creativity and generosity of their "Mamie". "We will always remember her lovely hands because of how they were always busy and how much beauty they created!" as one grandchild shared.

Gail's primary interests were in historical preservation, education and the Arts-both musical as well as visual. Thus, the couple restored a ca.1750 stone Quaker country homestead together in Chatham where they raised their family.

She and her husband's bluegrass band, White Clay Tributary, performed at many local venues their annual favorite being Chadds Ford Days, often with their talented son. The family was blessed by wonderful, musical gatherings with family joining in!

She was a member of London Grove Monthly Meeting of Friends where generations are affiliated to her, and where her ashes will be interned.
