Elsie (DiNardo) Chicarella  (1922-2017)

Elsie DiNardo Chicarella, lifelong resident of the Philadelphia area, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 10, 2017. She would have been 95 on August 15th.

Born and raised in Ardmore by her parents, the late George and Mae DiNardo, Mrs. Chicarella graduated from Lower Merion High School and was a member of St. Colman’s parish.

She’s lived at Sunrise in Exton since October 2015.  Prior to that, she resided on Marthart Avenue in Havertown, PA for more than 67 years, and belonged to St. Denis’ parish.

She lost her late husband, Peter J. Chicarella, nearly 30 years ago, but steadfastly remained in their home.

She loved Big Band Music and was blessed with many caring neighbors and friends.

Mrs. Chicarella is survived by her daughter Angela Cahill, three grown grandsons Robert (Allison), Joseph & David, and three great-grandchildren, Megan, Shawn, & Gavin Cahill. She is survived by only one of her six siblings, her sister Geraldine (DiNardo) Gorman, and many nieces & nephews.

Visitation by family and friends is most welcome, between 10 and 11 AM on Monday, May 15, 2017, at St. Denis R.C. Church, 2401 St. Denis Lane, Havertown, PA 19083; followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM.

Interment will be at St. Denis Cemetery, directly across from Church.

Gifts in lieu of flowers can be sent to, St. Denis “Aid for Friends” program, bringing warm meals and friendship to many neighborhood seniors at the above address.
