Darthy Marie Stambaugh of West Chester.

Darthy Marie Stambaugh departed this world for Heaven on Tuesday, November 17, 2015. She had recently celebrated her 86th birthday with her family. She died at home in West Chester having been blessed to see her loved ones throughout the day. She had struggled with the effects of a rare disease called Multiple Symptom Atrophy.

Darthy was born on October 4, 1929 to Harry and Myrtle Heindel. She was their youngest child and only daughter. Her brother, Dennis lives in the Michigan area. Sadly, her older brother, Harry (Hap) passed away many years ago. She lived in Hanover, PA until meeting the love of her life, Frederic (Fred) Stambaugh. Fred and Darthy moved to West Chester when their two girls were very little and made their home there for all their remaining years. Fred and Dottie would have been married 59 years and she deeply missed her "Mr. Freddy" every day. She often talked about how he would be the second face she would see in Heaven right after Jesus!

Darthy was a valued employee of the State of Pennsylvania for most of her career. She retired from the Chester County Assistance Office where her main responsibilities were to balance the checkbook. She prided herself on being able to balance it to the penny! She was not one to remain idle, but continued to work part-time with Voters Services. Darthy considered her most important job as taking care of her family.

Nannie - as much of her immediate family called her -- is survived by her two beloved daughters, Lynne and Candace Stambaugh. Her precious grandson, Andrew Stambaugh and his wife, Vikki. And, her treasured great-grandchildren, Riley, Hannah and Emilee. Nannie took great delight in her grandbabies. They often made her laugh and smile -- especially when she was winning at a game of Fish.

In the last few years, she attended Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church in West Chester. Her health prevented her from participating in the community as often as she wanted, but she felt deeply loved. Those who came to know her would describe Miss Darthy as such a "sweet lady."

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM on Monday, November 23, 2015 at the DellaVecchia, Reilly, Smith & Boyd Funeral Home, Inc.
