Arthur John (Art) Petrella of Glen Mills, died on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at his home. He was the husband of Terry Petrella with whom he shared over 69 years of marriage.

Born and raised in Downingtown, Dr. Petrella was the son of the late Mary Elizabeth LoVuollo Petrella and John Baptiste Petrella.

He was a graduate of West Catholic High School in Philadelphia, St. Joseph’s College pre-dental and Temple University Dental School. He served as a Dental Officer in the Navy for three years during World War II. He practiced dentistry for over 50 years in West Chester. Dr. Petrella was a retired life-member of the American Dental Association and of the Delaware and Chester Counties Dental Society.

He was a member of St. Agnes Church, a life-member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the West Chester Golf and Country Club where he was a former Golf Chairman and Board Member, an Association Member of the Philadelphia Orchestra, a Charter Member of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, and a member of the Philadelphia Art Museum, the Chester County Art Association, the Chester Country Historical Society, and The Men of Chester County.

In addition to his wife, he has three daughters: Pamela Winning and her husband, William, of Malvern; Patricia Pegeron and her husband, Jean-Paul, of Ann Arbor, MI; Janice Lynch and her husband, James, of NY; and a son, Thomas Petrella of Orange County, CA; as well as seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a sister, Antoinette Buchanan, of Rapid City, SD.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Pamela Winning; his parents, Mary and John Petrella; his brother, Vincent Petrella and his wife, Anita Petrella, of Downingtown; and his brother-in-law, Edward Buchanan.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be held at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St. West Chester, PA 19380 on Friday, September 22, at 10 am, with a burial at St. Agnes Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pam Petrella Winning Dance Studio, Villa Maria Academy, 370 Old Lincoln Highway, Malvern, PA 19355 or to St. Agnes Church at the above address.
