To the Maddox Family: As a nurse, I come across tragedy all to often, and I have learned to be strong and hold in my feelings so I may help patients and families through troubled times. But Alana broke all of our rules. She touched everyone of us @ PPMC deeply and will be forever remembered by us all. Not having known her during her healthy and wonderful life, I saw her shine through her friends and FAMILY who were pillars of strength at her side. Alana was lucky to have such people surrounding her as she left this earth and started a new journey into heaven. I am deeply sorry for your loss. You are all in my prayers. It was a privilege to take care of Alana and be with you through this most difficult time. Please know that we all miss her and talk about her often. Sincerely, Stacey,

There are no words to heal you but please know that prayers are continuing to be said for your family. Thirty five years ago today, my family was rocked with the death of our 22 yr old brother, a sudden death much like Alana. I'm here to reassure all of you that faith, love and hope will get you through this and someday you will feel joy again. Grief will consume you for now so let others help you and accept the kindness of strangers, for it is God's way of hugging you.
Alana had the face of an angel as a little girl, with big soulful eyes and I remember thinking that her sweetness matched her face. She always stayed kind and I'm sad that this world has lost one of the good ones. I thank your family for your strength to share her health with others who are now getting their second chance at life. May her goodness fill every cell of her recipients so that her light can continue to make this world a better place.
