Nancy Steenhusen passed away at the age of 77 on March 2024 following a long battle with congestive heart failure.
The daughter of Norman and Edith Scott, she was born on October 24, 1946, and raised near the small town of Irwin, Iowa.
She later attended and graduated from the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa. Following graduation, she worked in a number of doctors’ offices and hospitals in Iowa, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia before settling in West Chester, PA with her husband, Allan, and son Aaron.
As a registered nurse, she found her true niche in psychiatric nursing at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Coatesville. She worked there for over 30 years, and most of that time was serving veterans on the post-traumatic stress disorder ward.
Nancy enjoyed reading, antiquing, and music, but her true love was traveling. She and Allan, her husband of 54 years, traveled to nearly every state in the U.S. as well as making several trips to all but a couple countries in Europe. But Nancy's greatest joy was spending time with her son, Aaron, and granddaughter, Alexa, both of whom reside in Hobe Sound, Florida.
She is survived by her husband, Allan, son Aaron, granddaughter Alexa, her four sisters, Marcia Ahrenholtz, Karolyn Fiore, Julie Scott, and Maureen Jensen; and her brother, Larry Scott.
Services will be private.
